Not long ago, Sony’s State of Play event brought some exciting announcements, one of which also included new games like SYNDUALITY, which turned out to be part of a larger project. Developed by Bandai Namco, SYNDUALITY is a media project on communication and misunderstanding between humans and AI. So far, the project includes an action mecha game and an anime series, each with a different story.
For the game itself, SYNDUALITY is explained as ready to bring a PvPvE experience with exciting offline and online modes. The concept is that you take on the role of a mech drifter pilot tasked with collecting AO crystals, a rare energy source on Earth, while battling the alien creature Ender. Each Drifter pilot needs the help of a special AI companion nicknamed Magus, and their communication bond is key to survival and at the heart of the SYNDUALITY theme itself.
This uniquely futuristic-era setting was developed in partnership with Japanese developer Game Studio, which also worked on the game Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure. You can check the full details of the game on the official website here.
When it comes to anime, the concept of the story is still the same, and it all involves the theme of the survival relationship between the wanderer and the magician in the dark future era. More than 100 years after the “Tears of the Crescent” massacre nearly wiped out the virulent human race, those who are still alive continue to fight to restore their past glory. The animation project itself is quite promising, not least because of the involvement of Eight Studios, which is known for making Blue Locks adaptation of Tensura, which airs next month.
SYNDUALITY itself is slated to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC in 2023, while the anime is still in active development with an uncertain broadcast schedule. You can keep up to date with all of these media franchises through their official website here.
