News: Director confirms ‘Ghost of Tsushima’ adaptation will feature Japanese star

Chad Stahelski, director of John Wick, who was commissioned by Sony to adapt the popular samurai game Ghost of Tsushima into a movie, said he wanted to use Japanese Making the film, and featuring Japanese actors, noted that Sony was “ready” to move with it.

Stahelski made the comments in an interview with Collider to promote the release of his Netflix vampire film Day Shift.

“So I think if we get it right, it’s going to be visually stunning,” Stahelski said. “It’s character-driven.” It’s got a chance for great action, great performance. Honestly, we’ll try to do that, it’s totally in character. ”

“Meaning, the Mongol invasion of Tsushima was a Japanese thing. All Japanese actors, in Japanese. Sony was very supportive in that regard. I’ve been to Japan since I was 16. I love the country, the people and the language.”
